Understand what your visibility score means and how to improve it to increase your bookings
The Visibility Score is a measurement of how visible your listing actually is on Airbnb today. We compute the time-weighted average page number on which your listing shows up in real Airbnb searches over the next bookable dates, then express it on a 1–7 qualitative scale from OPTIMUM down to VERY BAD.
We don't compute the score from these — Airbnb's own ranking algorithm does. Improving them is what moves your listing to earlier pages, which in turn improves the Visibility Score we measure.

We scan the next 120 days of your listing's calendar.
For every future day that is bookable, whose minimum-stay requirement is under 5 nights, and that isn't just a 1–2 night gap between existing bookings, we run a real Airbnb search for that check-in date and record the page on which your listing appears (page = ceil(position ÷ 18), since Airbnb returns 18 results per page).
We then compute a weighted average of those page numbers, weighting each day by 0.5^(daysAhead / 7) — a 7-day half-life. A date one week out counts half as much as today, two weeks out a quarter, three weeks out an eighth, and so on.
At least 5 eligible days are required to compute a score. Days where your listing isn't found in the search results at all are reported separately as hidden days and are not included in the average.
Finally, we convert the numeric average into a qualitative label using these thresholds: below 1.2 → OPTIMUM, below 1.7 → EXCELLENT, below 2.3 → VERY GOOD, below 3.1 → GOOD, below 7 → AVERAGE, below 12 → BAD, 12 or higher → VERY BAD.
We track your listing's position by running regular searches on Airbnb.com in the area where your property is located. To ensure a fair comparison, we filter results to include only listings with the same number of bedrooms as yours.
Each search uses the same parameters a typical guest would: 2 adults, your listing's exact number of bedrooms as the minimum, and — when your listing is an Entire home/apt — the matching room-type filter. Results are restricted to a geographic bounding box centered on your property, so we're comparing you against the alternatives a guest searching that area would actually see.
The search radius depends on the density of listings in your area. In busy urban areas, it may be just a few hundred meters; in rural or less active markets, it may extend several kilometers. The exact radius and the number of listings analyzed are shown in the footer of your report.
We check positions every 24–48 hours to capture changes over time. Airbnb's ranking is not static: results vary by device, browser, time of day, and even user profile. Airbnb also rotates listings — sometimes pushing them up to give exposure, then moving them down again if they don't generate bookings. If you frequently search for your own property, Airbnb may stop showing it to you altogether, interpreting your repeated views without booking as a lack of interest.
Airbnb does not publish its algorithm, but these patterns are consistent with how their system behaves. Our monitoring method gives you a reliable benchmark of how visible your property is compared to similar ones nearby.
Your listing appears consistently on the first page of search results in the coming weeks.
Weighted average page position below 1.2 across at least 5 eligible days
Very strong visibility — usually on the first page, with only rare slips.
Weighted average ≤ 1.7, meaning most upcoming searches show you on page 1
Good exposure — often visible in the top 2 pages of results.
Weighted average between 1.7 and 2.3, often visible in the top 2 pages
Decent visibility — your listing is usually between page 2 and 3. Guests will find it, but with a bit more effort.
Weighted average between 2.3 and 3.1, usually between page 2 and 3
Mediocre visibility — your listing appears between pages 3 and 7. Guests may skip before reaching you.
Weighted average between 3.1 and 7, appears between pages 3 and 7
Poor visibility — your listing is usually buried beyond page 7, meaning fewer clicks and bookings.
Weighted average between 7 and 12, usually buried beyond page 7
Extremely weak visibility — your listing appears after page 12 or not at all. This severely limits bookings.
Weighted average greater than 12, appears after page 12 or not at all
